Say goodbye to WPCasa Legacy 👋

wpcasa migration

WPCasa Legacy has been part of the WPCasa world for quite some time but it’s time to freshen up. Did you know that WPCasa was originally delivered as a framework based on a theme? 10 years ago, in 2015, we introduced WPCasa as a plugin, which was a big step for us.

Back then, after many months of hard work, we were excited to finally introduce the new WPCasa plugin. We had completely rethought the entire codebase, improved usability, and refined every single feature. The biggest change: WPCasa is available as a plugin and now works with every WordPress theme!

WPCasa Legacy was an important tool

Beside switching from a theme to a plugin we had to improve the data structure. To keep the data compatible between the framework and plugin based version, WPCasa Legacy was the right tool. So, our customer can still use their data of the “old” framwork structure with the new WPCasa plugin.

Time for adjustments

After 10 years we think it is time to say goodbye to the old data structure and to provide a solution to get rid of WPCasa Legacy. So, we developed the free WPCasa Migration Tool. This add-on converts the old data structure to the one which is used by WPCasa now.

This is necessary because we will no longer support the functions of WPCasa Legacy in future. In particular, new add-ons and themes will no longer work with WPCasa Legacy. WPCasa will also gradually lose compatibility.

So, if you have WPCasa Legacy installed and activated, you should consider to step into the future and convert the data strucutre.

After activating WPCasa Migration Tool, the plugin converts the data like magic. That’s it! After the job is done you can uninstall both plugins, WPCasa Migration Tool and WPCasa Legacy.

Please read the description on wordpress.org carefully and follow the steps. You will lead in a new URL structure, which you may need to take into account in your shortcodes. The rest will be done for you automatically by WPCasa.

Since this step cannot be undone, we strongly recommend testing it on a staging site first before applying it to your live site.
